Our nurses all administer routine childhood immunisations and routine adult immunisations like tetanus booster vaccines. We encourage you to speak with us if you have any questions about these.

Some patients require the traditional cervical sample (LBC – liquid-based cytology), which involves a nurse using a speculum to take a sample directly from the cervix. This may be recommended instead of a self-swab in certain situations – for example, if you’re currently under follow-up for previous abnormal results, or if a self-swab isn’t suitable for your circumstances.

Fang is trained and experienced in performing LBC cervical smears. As we currently have two male doctors at the practice, having Fang available to provide this service gives our female patients the choice of a female clinician for this examination, if that’s something they’d prefer.

If you have any questions about which test is right for you – self-swab or clinician-taken smear – you’re welcome to raise this with your GP or with Fang directly when you book.

Cervical screening in New Zealand now primarily uses HPV testing rather than the older cytology-only “smear” test. For most people, this means a simple vaginal swab rather than a full speculum examination. After an initial consultation with our nurse, you can either take this swab yourself in a private space at our clinic, or one of our nurses can take it for you – both Fang and Hannah are able to assist with this.

Our nurses provide wound care for a wide range of injuries and conditions, from minor cuts and post-surgical wounds through to chronic wounds and ulcers that need regular monitoring. This includes wound assessment, cleaning, dressing changes, and keeping an eye on healing progress, with review by your doctor if there are any signs of infection or if the wound isn’t healing as expected.

Both Fang and Hannah can administer flu and COVID-19 vaccinations. Book a nurse appointment at the time that suits you – no need to wait for a doctor’s appointment for these vaccines.

Our nurses can treat warts using liquid nitrogen (cryotherapy), which freezes and removes the affected tissue. Treatment is usually done over one or more sessions every 3 weeks, depending on the size and location of the wart. Book a nurse appointment to have this assessed.

Our nurses provide annual diabetic reviews as part of your ongoing diabetes care. This includes checking your blood glucose control, blood pressure, weight, and other key markers, and discussing any adjustments needed to your management plan. Regular reviews help catch complications early and keep your diabetes well controlled.
